OBSERVATION ON TEACHER

The teacher that i observed is on grade 4. She is Mrs. Nguyen Thi Quy and my tutor lecture is Mrs. Nguyen Thi Kieu. We cal her Ma'am Quy. During the second week, I will observe her from preparing her lesson, during the class, and doing measurement.

Preparing for Teaching

The teacher prepares the teaching plans according to the syllabus that given by The Ministry of Education and Training. The teaching plan is designes by the teacher, but the teacher should designs the teaching plan so that the expected learning objectives can be achieved. The teaching plan is just for one topic. So that the teachers should make teaching plan for each meeting.

The goverment in Vietnam provides every school with textbooks for teacher and for students. So, the teacher can use the textbook for teaching aids. But sometimes Ma'am Quy also use powerpoint presentation to make the teaching prosses more efficient.

Teaching In Class

Ma'am Quy starts the learning by greeting the students and ask students if they are ready for the learning materials (the textbook, chalks/marker and whiteboard). The teacher starts the powerpoint presentation. During this time, sometimes teacher gives a questions to the students. Ma'am Quy give an assigment during the lesson by optional questions. And then commands the student to answer it on their whiteboard. Teacher will asks about the right answer and the student will lift the board above their head. It will make the teacher see the student's answer easily. Because each topic is taught in one meeting, then 40 minutes is enough to teach it. So, very rarely for teachers in Vietnam giving homework.

Measurement and Evaluation

The evaluation is held for every weekend. During a week the teacher will rates the student's achievement and attitudes. And for general evaluation will held at the mid semester and final semester.
